Notion Agent can now make Excel, Word, PowerPoint and PDF files

4file types Notion named: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, PDF

On 28 Oct 2026 (MYT), @NotionHQ posted that can now use a computer to create and edit files. Notion says you can go from a chat to a finished Excel spreadsheet, Word document, PowerPoint deck or PDF without leaving Notion. When a user said this looked weeks old, Notion replied that it has been available for a few weeks and they just had not talked about it much.

Key points

The source is a short @NotionHQ post with a 21-second demo video; Notion has not published a help page or release note for it that we could find.
It builds on the 19 Oct agent rebuild, which gave agents their own computer and browser.
Notion itself says the feature quietly rolled out a few weeks ago, so many workspaces may already have it.
Notion did not say which plans include it or how many credits a file costs.

Why it matters: Clients often need a deck or spreadsheet at the end of their Notion work. This is worth a quick live test before you promise it in a workshop.

GPT-6.1 Terra is now available in Notion

27 Oct2026 date Notion said Terra is in the product

On 27 Oct 2026, @NotionHQ posted that is now available in Notion, quoting OpenAI’s launch thread from the day before. OpenAI describes Terra as a faster, cheaper computer-use model for ChatGPT Work, Codex and the API (gpt-6.1-terra), and claims it matches GPT-6 Astra quality at about one-tenth the price per token on its Agents’ Last Exam comparison. Treat OpenAI’s benchmark claims as the vendor’s; Notion’s post only confirms availability in the product.

Key points

Notion confirmation: short @NotionHQ post on 27 Oct linking OpenAI’s Terra announcement.
OpenAI says Terra is rolling out to Plus, Pro, Enterprise and Edu users in ChatGPT Work and Codex, plus the API.
OpenAI claims ~50% lower standard API prices versus GPT-5.6 Terra and over 3× faster average task finish versus Astra and GPT-6.1 Sol.
This sits on top of Notion 3.8’s model additions earlier in October; use unless a client specifically wants Terra.

Why it matters: Clients will ask whether to switch models. Default advice stays Auto; Terra is the named option when they want OpenAI’s computer-use model inside Notion.

Meeting Notes widget, page virtualization, iPhone Duo

50%faster agent chats on mobile claimed in the 19 Oct AI post

Between 21 and 24 Oct 2026, Notion and its engineers posted a cluster of smaller product ships. gained a home-screen widget on iOS and Android (22 Oct). Engineer John Ryan said long pages now render as you scroll () to cut memory use. Notion also posted iPhone Duo support (23 Oct) and a tip to select any block to see who or what edited it last (21 Oct). A 24 Oct @NotionHQ thread recapped these next to , and .

Key points

Meeting Notes widget: two taps from the home screen to start a transcription, per Notion’s 22 Oct post.
Page virtualization: render on scroll instead of every block at once; claimed snappier long pages.
Edit attribution: select a block to see the last human or bot editor.
iPhone Duo support is Notion’s own product claim; no independent review was checked this run.

Why it matters: Useful demo chips for workshops: meeting capture from the phone, faster long docs, and visible bot edits.

Builders test Memories while MCP memory sync is live

MCPNotion’s label for its fastest-growing product

On 19 Oct Notion called its fastest-growing product and said memory sync is live, with via MCP coming soon. In the days after, community posts explored using Notion as a shared memory store across agents. On 27 Oct, @GeorgeSiosi posted about discovering a feature in Notion and asked whether hand-built Memories databases are still needed — Notion replied with an eyes emoji, not a product FAQ. Treat Memories details beyond the official MCP memory-sync line as community reporting.

Key points

Official (19 Oct): MCP overhauled so outside agents can use Notion as a shared brain; memory sync live; skills via MCP coming soon.
Community (27 Oct): Siosi’s Memories discovery post; Notion engaged but did not publish a full Memories help article in the sources checked.
Community (26 Oct): Ahmad Alkabra described a five-area shared brain in Notion for multi-agent context — labelled community, not Notion docs.
LinkedIn’s official NotionHQ company posts were blocked without sign-in this run, so X and the releases/blog carried the load.

Why it matters: Matches how Grok Bot + Notion already work for Digital Cookie. Good talking point, but wait for official Memories docs before promising a feature name.

Notion published a deeper look at Auto

~5Notion’s sample Auto credits for a simple task

Alongside the 19 Oct launch, Notion posted “Inside Notion’s upgraded model router, .” It describes evaluating thousands of simulated knowledge-work tasks and shows sample credit costs: about 5 credits for simple tasks on Auto versus about 50 on Opus 5.5 in Notion’s table. The post is Notion’s own methodology and scores — useful for explaining Auto to clients, not an independent benchmark.

Key points

Auto re-routes if a model is not making progress on a task.
Notion’s table groups tasks as simple (~5 credits), medium (~10) and complex, versus much higher Opus 5.5 estimates.
When new models ship, Notion says Auto can start using approved providers without users tracking each release.
Prefer this blog when clients ask “which model?” — point them to Auto first.

Why it matters: Gives a concrete credit story for Business workshops without inventing numbers.

10×Notion’s claim for how far credits go with Auto

On 19 Oct 2026, Notion co-founder Akshay Kothari announced a package of Notion AI changes on the company blog and releases page. Notion says agents can now run tasks for up to 24 hours with their own computer and browser, a smarter model router, ChatGPT plan connection for personal , Enterprise in private alpha, an improved Notion with memory sync, and a coming AI Command Center. Business and Enterprise seats get monthly Standard and ; Notion says new workspaces move on 19 Oct and existing ones on 2 Nov 2026.

Key points

Notion claims Auto delivered results similar to Opus 5.5 and Astra at about 90% lower average cost across 20+ common tasks, so credits go about 10× further.
Included credits (per Notion’s help page): 1,500 a month for Auto work and 500 Select credits for chosen models or personal ; amounts can vary by plan.
Agents get durable execution, computer/browser use, smarter context compaction, and a “Review for me” safety mode; Notion says Custom Agent runs cost about 30% less in its testing.
You no longer need to buy credits before trying Custom Agents; admins can buy extra Notion credits for the workspace.

Why it matters: Clients on Business or Enterprise will ask what the new credits mean for workshops and Custom Agents. Auto-first demos keep Standard credits for everyday work.

Notion 3.8: shared context, MCP, and column permissions

150+MCP tool connections Notion listed for agents

The 13 Oct 2026 release (Notion 3.8) focused on durable context. Notion says any -compatible agent can connect to a workspace, admins get MCP controls, and can use 150+ MCP tool connections. The same release shipped the API sync to GitHub, upgraded version history with attribution, ChatGPT plan use inside Notion for Business and Enterprise, long-requested database column permissions, and rebuilt synced databases for GitHub, Jira and Salesforce.

Key points

Column permissions let database owners choose which properties each person or agent can view or edit.
Synced databases for GitHub, Jira and Salesforce were rebuilt with a live health status and work like normal Notion databases.
Seven new models were added around the same week, including GPT 6.1-Sol, GPT-6 Luna, Opus 5.5 and Sonnet 5.5, per the release notes.
Connections settings were redesigned; Notion mentions and comments can surface in Microsoft Teams.

Why it matters: Column permissions and MCP controls are the answers when clients worry about agents seeing salary or customer fields.

Notion 3.7: Skills that travel to Claude, Cursor, and Grok

3.7release that shipped the Skills library

On 15 Sep 2026, Notion 3.7 launched a library: reusable instructions teams write once and run from with `/`. Skills can live in a Notion database, export as SKILL.md for local agents, and later sync through the Skills API. The same release added Custom connections (GitHub, Amplitude and more), the Notion Agents iOS app, sub-agents, automatic post-meeting Custom Agent runs, a redesigned model picker and the Knowledge Board.

Key points

Skills are shared team shortcuts; Notion can also suggest skills from work people already do.
On 17 Sep, Notion posted the Skills API: edit skills in Notion, sync into GitHub, and install with Vercel’s `npx skills add`.
Custom Agents can call other Custom Agents as sub-agents; Notion cites Remote’s IT help desk as saving $500k a year with five agents.
Early September also let Custom Agents join MCP chats with ChatGPT, Claude or Grok Bot (4 Sep post).

Why it matters: This is the same Skills pattern Digital Cookie already uses. Notion as the shared library is a natural client story.

22 Sep2026 shutdown date for Notion Mail apps

Notion Mail’s iOS, desktop and web apps shut down on 22 September 2026, about seventeen months after launch. Independent outlet RunSolo, which saved Notion’s now-removed shutdown page, says Notion argued more than half of Mail users already handed email workflows to agents. Gmail still holds the synced messages. Reminders set only in Notion Mail and live email-database syncs did not carry over. A personal Gmail AI Connector is free on any plan; organisation-wide Gmail still needs Business or Enterprise plus a Google Workspace admin.

Key points

Export deadline was 21 Sep 2026; Notion said unexported drafts, scheduled emails, snippets and -labels would be deleted.
Notion’s product/mail and shutdown help pages now redirect away; RunSolo’s notes are from readings on 26 Aug and 14 Sep 2026.
HIPAA-covered orgs were told to leave Notion Mail by 30 Jun 2026, five days after the June announcement.
Treat the agent-inbox replacement as Notion’s stated direction, not a drop-in Mail clone.

Why it matters: Any client still pointing email databases at Notion Mail needs a clean migration story before demos break.

Notion Malaysia has been running monthly community gatherings through 2026 (Thomas Yang posted about them on Reddit in May). On 24 Oct 2026, Notion Malaysia hosted Notion Sip & Chill at Miyakori Coffee in Bukit Bintang — a free, informal coffee meetup with no workshops. Notion Singapore Community listed AI Labs Singapore on 20 Oct 2026 at PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering, a hands-on agent-building workshop. An earlier Notion Malaysia #5 meetup at APU in February listed about 48 attendees on Luma.

Key points

Sip & Chill: Sat 24 Oct 2026, 11:00–13:00 MYT, Miyakori Coffee, Bukit Bintang; RSVP was on Luma (now closed) and promoted on Notion Malaysia’s LinkedIn.
AI Labs Singapore: Tue 20 Oct 2026, ~15:00–18:30, build a ; Create With lists a one-month Notion trial with free credits for attendees.
Notion Malaysia #5 (25 Feb 2026, APU): “Building Clarity in Notion”; Luma shows 48 went.
LinkedIn company feed for Notion HQ itself was not readable without signing in this run; community LinkedIn posts for Notion Malaysia were available via search indexes.

Why it matters: These are the rooms Digital Cookie already touches. Sip & Chill is light networking; AI Labs Singapore is the agent workshop format to watch.

Calendar iOS rebuild and ChatGPT plan cover Notion AI

$20Business plan per member / month on notion.com/pricing

Through September, Notion Calendar shipped a native iOS rebuild with day, week, month and agenda views (Julia Rudansky, 18 Sep), plus smart natural-language event creation. Separately, on 29 Sep Notion said ChatGPT Plus or Pro can cover AI usage in Notion for Business and Enterprise — connect the plan, pick a GPT model, with no markup. That ChatGPT connection later sat inside the 13 Oct / 19 Oct AI package. Business remains listed at $20/member/month with included.

Key points

Calendar iOS rebuild was previewed mid-September; Notion Calendar account asked for wishlist feedback.
Smart event creation: press Space in a new event and describe the plan (Notion Calendar, 21 Sep).
ChatGPT plan connection asks before switching to Notion credits if the ChatGPT allowance runs out.
Pricing page still lists Free, Plus ($10), Business ($20) and custom Enterprise; are free to try then $10 per 1,000 monthly Notion credits.

Why it matters: Two client questions in one: Calendar reliability on phones, and whether they already pay for ChatGPT they can reuse in Notion.
